Floating Poinsettias
Ever wonder what to do with your "scraps" of designer series paper? Turn it into something beautiful like this poinsettia card. It's a little time-consuming to make because of all the fussy cutting, but I love this card!
One of the poinsettia papers in the Boughs of Holly DSP has a bunch of partial poinsettias along all the edges. I fussy cut all of them and then arranged them along the edges of the white paper.
I recommend stamping the words first. For this card I used the Real Red ink pad to stamp the words and used Real Red card stock as the base. After stamping the words, lay your cut pieces along the edges of the Basic White card stock piece (5 1/4" x 4). For some of them you might need to trim them further, or for others you might need to add a little something from another flower or leaves to fill in some of the white space. If you want your poinsettias to "float", put Dimensionals on the back of the flowers and leaves to give them a raised look. If you would rather not do that, just adhere all of them to the white paper with your favorite adhesive. You should add all the poinsettias to the white paper before adhering it to the card base so you can trim the pieces that may be sticking over the edge of the white paper. When you're happy with all the edges, then adhere the white piece to the card base. Add the small red rhinestones to add some bling and to fill in some of the blank white spaces. The red rhinestones are really shiny in the light.
Here's another picture with four cards. You'll see no two will be exactly alike. You can make about 3 cards with the partial poinsettias on the edges of each DSP sheet of paper.
Hope you have a merry Christmas!
