Sunflower Paper Pumpkin Cards
One of my favorite Paper Pumpkin kits ever was last month. The kit is called Sweet Sunflowers. I love all the cards inside and the stamp set that was included. Here's a revision of one of the extra card ideas from Stampin' Up!

Paper Pumpkin (PP) kits generally include enough supplies to make 9 cards. If you get creative with the supplies included in the kit, along with some of your own supplies, you can usually get at least double the amount of cards, especially if you use the designer envelopes to make cards. For this card, I took the card base of one of the PP cards and cut it in half (5 1/2" x 4 1/4"). I glued the PP card front to an Old Olive card stock base (8 1/2" x 5 1/2", then folded in half).
I wanted to save the die-cut sunflowers from the PP kit for the original cards, so I made my own sunflowers and leaves with the stamp set included in the kit. For the sunflowers, lightly color So Saffron ink on watercolor paper with a Water Painter. Allow to dry, then stamp the sunflower in Crushed Curry ink for the flower petals and Soft Suede ink for the center of the flowers. For the leaves, lightly color Old Olive ink (and maybe a little of watered down Mossy Meadow ink) on watercolor paper. Allow to dry, then stamp the petals in Mossy Meadow ink. (Hint: Spritz or brush water on the watercolor paper before adding the light colors. This will help the colors spread more easily on the paper.) Fussy cut the sunflowers and leaves.
The sample card like this from Stampin' Up! used the reddish flowers and stems from the PP kit items. Since I wanted to save those for the other kit cards, I made my reddish flowers using the Bough Punch. Punch the flowers/stems from watercolor paper, then color the flowers with Poppy Parade ink and the stems with Mossy Meadow ink.
The original Paper Pumpkin kit included a "free gift" of the gold foil honeycomb. Although the sample shown with the kit looked like it used nearly an entire sheet of the gold foil, I only used half on each card. Cut them in half (following the lines, not cutting the hexagons in half). Then randomly cut the half into 4-6 smaller sections.
For the word tags, some are included in the PP kit. I used one on the "Happiness" card (at the bottom of this page). For the "Thank You" card (at the top of this page), I made my own tag by lightly watercoloring Misty Moonlight ink (retired) and Old Olive ink on watercolor paper. Allow to dry, then stamp the words in Soft Suede ink. I used an old Stampin' Up! tag punch to punch out the words, but you could use another punch or dies to cut out the words.
We're finally ready for assembly. First, use Dimensionals to adhere the sunflowers to the card. Randomly adhere the gold foil pieces to extend beyond the sunflowers. Adhere the leaves and flowers/stems partially under the sunflower petals (I used mini glue dots). Adhere the words in your desired location. Add two die-cut bees from the PP kit with Dimensionals.
