Camping Trailer

The cute trailer in the Tree Lot dies reminds me of my family's first trailer when I was growing up. We went camping in the Sierras every summer. My parents slept in the trailer and us kids slept in a tent. Sometimes we would see deer during the camping trip. Once or twice in the week of camping, we drove to Hume Lake to play in the water. And nearby, we could drive through the magnificent mountains of Kings Canyon. These memories inspired this card.

Camping Trailer

Stamp Set: Snow Front (retired)

Dies: Tree Lot (Sale-A-Bration)

Measurements: Old Olive CS 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" (fold in half to make card base), Mossy Meadow CS 5 1/8" x 3 7/8", Basic White CS 5 x 3 3/4"

Trailer -- Die cut the trailer several times. For my trailer I used Basic Black CS (the base with the tires & trailer hitch), Blackberry Bliss CS (middle section), Rich Razzleberry CS (top, bottom, curtains) and Smoky Slate CS (windows). Assemble and adhere all the pieces on top of the black base. Use a silver gel pen to color the door handle and hubcap.

3D Trees -- Watercolor with Mossy Meadow and Old Olive ink on Watercolor Paper. Let dry, then die cut with small and medium outline trees from the Tree Lot dies. Adhere Mossy Meadow card stock to an Adhesive Sheet, then die cut the small and medium intricate tree images. Adhere the intricate trees to the watercolored trees.

Background Scene -- Use the Snowfront stamp set (or similar stamp set) to make the mountain scene. Start with the mountains. Ink in Blackberry Bliss, stamp on scratch paper, then stamp on the Basic White piece. Start on the left side, then add the middle mountain and then the right side. For the lake, press the stamp in the Tahitian Tide ink pad, then use a sponge dauber to add some Starry Sky ink to the stamp, then stamp on the white paper. For the little trees, I put two small trees on the same clear block. Ink with Old Olive and stamp on the white paper and then move over a bit and stamp again (a lighter version). Re-ink and repeat the process until you've covered the space below the mountains and lake with the little trees. After stamping all the trees, lightly sponge Old Olive over the tree section. Stamp the sun in Daffodil Delight. Make a "mask" of the sun with a Post-It-Note (on the sticky edge) or with Masking Paper to protect the sun while coloring the sky with a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue and Tahitian Tide ink pads. Lay the 3D trees and trailer in your desired location before stamping the deer in Early Espresso

Card Assembly -- Adhere your background scene to Mossy Meadow, then adhere to the card base. Use glue dots to adhere the 3D tree on the left. Use Dimensionals to adhere the trailer and the tree on the right.

NOTE: The words colored in pink are the names of Stampin' Up! product that you can find in my online store.
