Rose of Sharon Flowers

I decided I should make a few more versions of my last card to make the flowers look like Rose of Sharon flowers. So here are two more samples with the same design.

White Rose of Sharon Flowers

Stamp Sets: Uniquely Artistic, Happiness Abounds

Die Set: Harvest

I did everything the same as the last card except for the flowers and the words. For these mostly white flowers, I stamped the flowers with Rich Razzleberry ink. To get the lighter color of ink, I stamped the flower image twice on scratch paper before stamping on the Basic White card stock. I colored the ring around the center of the flower with Stampin' Blends (Light Fresh Freesia and Light Rich Razzleberry). You can't really see it in the picture, but I also added some Wink of Stella to the flower centers to add a bit of shine/glitter. Be careful to just dab the Wink of Stella since it is water-based and so is the Rich Razzleberry ink, so the ink will run if you brush it.

The "happy birthday" stamp is from the Happiness Abounds stamp set. It was stamped with Fresh Freesia ink on Fresh Freesia card stock. The image was then die cut using a die from the Harvest die set. For this card I used the Iridescent Pearls to add some bling.

Stampin' Blends Colors

I wanted to try to match my second set of flowers with the purple Rose of Sharon flowers I had seen on the internet, so I made a color swatch of Stampin' Blends colors to try to pick ones that were close to the same colors. The Blends are alcohol markers, mostly sold in sets of two shades of a color (light and dark). In the picture, the "light" colors are on the left and the "dark" colors are on the right.

Purple Rose of Sharon Flowers

For the card with the purple flowers, I used Balmy Blue card stock for the card base. The leaves were stamped with Tuxedo Black ink. The flowers were stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink. This time the flower image was stamped once on scratch paper and then on the Basic White card stock. Everything was colored with Blends. The leaves were colored with Granny Apple Green and the background was colored with Balmy Blue. The flowers were colored with Light Fresh Freesia. The center ring was colored with a combination of Light Polished Pink and Light Rich Razzleberry. I also added Wink of Stella to the center of the flowers. The words (from a discontinued stamp set) were stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink (stamp off once) and cut with a Harvest die. The Iridescent Rhinestones were used on this card. to make it sparkle in the light.

Hope you enjoyed the variations. Happy stamping!
