Joyful Days Christmas Cards

Image
Joyful Days 4"x6" Christmas Cards Every year I have a special Christmas card class based on a paper pack. This year my class in based on the Joyful Days Memories and More Card Pack . The card pack has cards in 3" x 4" and 4" x 6" with lovely images printed on both sides. A few of the sides have lines for journaling. You can use these cards to make greeting cards or scrapbook pages.  For the cards that I designed, some of them have 4" x 6" card bases (picture above) and some have 5. 1/2" x 4 1/4" card bases (picture below). The card base colors are Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow. Some of the tags and die cut images use Crumb Cake card stock. The pine needles that you can see in the background on two of the cards are die cut from Crumb Cake and then watercolored with Mossy Meadow and Pecan Pie ink. The pine cones can be die cut from Pecan Pie card stock or from Crumb Cake card stock and then watercolored with Pecan Pie ink. I used the Br...

Spring Hues of Happiness

Image
Spring Hues of Happiness Sorry it's been a while since I posted a card idea. This spring has just been crazy busy. I had this card made 2 months ago but am just now writing about it. Unfortunately the designer paper is now retired, but maybe you already have some or can use something similar. This is a really easy card to make. The card base is Daffodil Delight card stock (5 1/2" x 8 1/2" then folded in half). On the left side is a strip of Hues of Happiness DSP (2 3/8" x 4 3/4"). The Basic White card stock (2 3/8" x 3 3/4") was embossed with the Meadow Moments embossing folder , but any embossing folder can be used. The big flowers and extra leaves were cut from a different sheet in the Hues of Happiness DSP. The top flower was glued straight to the embossed white paper and the bottom two flowers were adhered with Dimensionals . The words were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a small strip of Daffodil Delight card stock . A smaller banner w...

Snowflake Snowman Card

Image
With the ice, sleet and freezing rain covering most of Texas this week, I thought I would post one of my wintery cards. I like snow and cold weather, but am glad it doesn't last very long in Texas. The temps are supposed to be back to the 60s by this weekend, so we don't have to wait very long for nice weather again.  Snowflake Snowman Card Unfortunately most of the unique products used on this card are now discontinued, but maybe you already have these products or something similar that you can use. The card base is Balmy Blue card stock and the next layer is Night of Navy card stock . The layer right behind the snowflake paper is Basic White card stock with Balmy Blue ink lightly brushed over it using a Blending Brush .  The snowflake layer was die cut from Storybook Gnomes DSP with Snowman dies . The snowflake paper was cut the desired size, then the Snowman dies cut out the center part leaving snowflakes on the sides. Peace on Earth is from the Hope & Peace cling s...

Floating Poinsettias

Image
Ever wonder what to do with your "scraps" of designer series paper? Turn it into something beautiful like this poinsettia card. It's a little time-consuming to make because of all the fussy cutting, but I love this card! Floating Poinsettias One of the poinsettia papers in the Boughs of Holly DSP has a bunch of partial poinsettias along all the edges. I fussy cut all of them and then arranged them along the edges of the white paper.  I recommend stamping the words first. For this card I used the Real Red ink pad to stamp the words and used Real Red card stock as the base. After stamping the words, lay your cut pieces along the edges of the Basic White card stock piece (5 1/4" x 4). For some of them you might need to trim them further, or for others you might need to add a little something from another flower or leaves to fill in some of the white space. If you want your poinsettias to "float", put Dimensionals on the back of the flowers and leaves to g...

Sunflower Paper Pumpkin Cards

Image
One of my favorite Paper Pumpkin kits ever was last month. The kit is called Sweet Sunflowers. I love all the cards inside and the stamp set that was included. Here's a revision of one of the extra card ideas from Stampin' Up! Sunflower Thank You Paper Pumpkin (PP) kits generally include enough supplies to make 9 cards. If you get creative with the supplies included in the kit, along with some of your own supplies, you can usually get at least double the amount of cards, especially if you use the designer envelopes to make cards. For this card, I took the card base of one of the PP cards and cut it in half (5 1/2" x 4 1/4"). I glued the PP card front to an Old Olive card stock base (8 1/2" x 5 1/2", then folded in half).  I wanted to save the die-cut sunflowers from the PP kit for the original cards, so I made my own sunflowers and leaves with the stamp set included in the kit. For the sunflowers, lightly color So Saffron ink on watercolor paper with a Wa...

Awash in Beauty Cards

Image
I love flowers and I love pink, so I really like how this card turned out. This card is mostly made with Stampin' Up!'s Awash in Beauty designer series paper. If you don't mind fussy cutting, you'll love this card too. Be sure to look at the end of this post to see more variations. Awash in Beauty DSP: Awash in Beauty Stamps: Quiet Meadow (speckles), Blessings of Home (words) The base card is Basic White Thick card stock. (5 1/2" x 8 1/2", then folded in half). The pink and white flower paper is from the Awash in Beauty Designer Series Paper (5 1/4" x 4"). The next layer is Shimmery White card stock (4 1/8" x 3 7/8") stamped with speckles in Balmy Blue ink . For this card, the speckles are a stamp from Quiet Meadow (but you could use any speckles you have). I wanted them to be lightly colored, so I stamped on scratch paper before stamping them on the Shimmery White card stock. The floral bouquet was fussy cut from the Awash in Beauty D...
